In 1952, the board of Daimler-Benz decided to re-enter Grand Prix racing from 1954. Parallel to these activities, it was of course necessary to set up a workshop van for the service and repair operations at the race track and to build appropriate trucks for the transport of the racing cars.
The “creators” of the racing transporter succeeded in squaring the circle: they created a vehicle that was truly unique in terms of appearance and technical perfection. And they delivered exactly what the racing department needed: an incomparably fast vehicle for transporting the racing cars: the blue wonder.
